    the php code i am currently using is

    gdrts_posts_render_rating(array('echo' => true, 'name' => 'post', 'id' => 'the_ID()','method' => 'stars-rating' ));

    The look of the rating block is controlled by the template. In main settings you have option to choose template, and you can set this template with the function too (second array with method parameters). So your example becomes:

      array('echo' => true, 'name' => 'post', 'id' => 'the_ID()','method' => 'stars-rating'),
      array('template' => 'default');

    And, you need to modify the template to change what is displayed and how it is displayed. Here is the tutorial on templates, and how to make a copy of default one:
